HUM 232 Major Works of Asian Art Select Term:
This course is intended to introduce students to a series of major works of art and architecture from the Middle East, India, and East Asia. Its aim is to offer an idea of the ways human beings have brought their values to life across a wide area of the globe. Each week's lecture will focus on a different work, situating it in its artistic, cultural and historical contexts and suggesting the perspective(s) it offers on universal human concerns such as the relation of man to God and the natural world, ethical values, political power, and the role of art and artists in bringing all these to life. In addition to the existing pre-requisite " to have completed 23 credits" for this course , a new condition will be added as "to complete SPS 101 and SPS 102 courses at least with D grade" as of the Fall semester of 2015-2016 Academic Year.
