This course focuses on the study of life story narratives , whether in the form of oral history or auto/biography. Life story narratives will be analyzed through theoretical and methodological readings. The course will demonstrate that personal testimony, whether in the form of self-writing or life stories elicited by oral historians, is invaluable in understanding the relationship between subjectivity and the public sphere, or biography and history.
